Every part of the pair, cut to your numbers

Tap a number to see what you tell us and what it changes.

Front view of women's straight jeans with numbered points at the rise, hips, thigh, knee and hem
  1. Rise Low, mid, high or ultra high: you choose where the waistband sits.
  2. Hips Cut to your hip measurement, separately from the waist, so the back doesn't gap.
  3. Thigh A required measurement, so the leg fits the top of your leg, not a chart.
  4. Knee Optional: add the knee measurement of a pair you love.
  5. Length and hem Inseam cut to the shoes you'll wear; add a leg-opening measurement for a particular width.

Start with the rise: where should your waistband sit?

Rise is the one choice a size label never tells you. If a pair you own sits exactly right, give us its front and back rise (both optional fields) and we have the number we need.

Why off-the-rack jeans gap at the back

Most jeans are graded on one assumed difference between waist and hips. If your hips are proportionally fuller than that, you buy for your hips and the waistband stands away at the back, or you buy for your waist and the seat pulls tight. We take both measurements, plus your thigh, and cut to the actual difference. The full explanation, with a symptom-by-symptom guide, is on our page about curvy jeans with no waist gap.

Hard to fit? Start from the problem, not the style

  • Curvy Jeans – No Waist Gap

    Waist gaps, hips pull

Your waist and hips are cut from separate numbers. See curvy jeans with no waist gap.

  • Petite Jeans

    Everything is too long

Rise, length and flare cut for your height, not hemmed off a regular pair. See petite jeans.

  • Tall Women's Jeans

    Nothing reaches your ankles

Long inseams with a rise to match, at the same price. See tall women's jeans.

  • Plus Size Jeans

The size chart stops too soon

Waists from 24" to 70", drafted from your measurements. See plus size jeans.

Choose the style by the shoes you actually wear

Mostly wearStyles that workWhy
Sneakers and flatsStraight, Mom, BarrelThey end at or near the ankle, so a flat shoe never leaves a hem dragging
Ankle boots and cowboy bootsBootcut, StraightThe opening sits over the boot shaft instead of bunching on top of it
Heels and platformsFlare, Wide LegA long hem that nearly reaches the floor needs the height to stay clear of it
A bit of everythingSkinny, StraightNarrower hems forgive a change of shoe; wide hems are cut for one heel height

Whatever you pick, measure your inseam in the shoes you'll wear most. Our measuring guide shows how.

Questions and answers

How are custom jeans different from just buying my size?

A size is one waist with a fixed hip, thigh and length attached. Custom jeans start from your own waist, hips, thigh, inseam and height, so each of those is set separately.

Do petite, tall or plus sizes cost more?

No. Every women's style costs the same from a 24" to a 70" waist: $109, or $119 for Flare, Wide Leg and Barrel. Options such as selvedge denim or a button fly are the only extras.

Should I choose stretch or rigid denim?

Close fits like Skinny and Flare suit Power Stretch (4% elastane) or Comfort Stretch (2%). Relaxed shapes like Mom and Barrel hold their line best in Classic Rigid, 13 oz 100% cotton.

How long until my custom jeans arrive?

Each pair is made in 10–15 working days, then sent by tracked express delivery in 3–7 working days. Rush production (+$35) cuts the making time to 5–7 working days.

Can you copy a pair of jeans I already love?

Yes. Lay them flat, measure them with our guide, and choose "copy my best-fitting jeans" when you order. Use the notes for your tailor for anything you'd change, such as "an inch longer".
