For a pear, the thigh is the measurement that counts
Most pear-shaped women know the pattern: the waist fits, the jeans won't pass the thigh. Or the thigh fits and there's a fist-sized gap at the back. A size chart grows the thigh in fixed steps from the waist, so it can't follow you.
We take the thigh as its own number, at the fullest point, then cut the waist and hips separately. That's the whole trick, and no size can do it.

How to tell if you're a pear
- Hips at least about 3–4 inches larger than your bust.
- Waist smaller than your hips, but not dramatically nipped in (under about 9 inches difference).
- Shoulders look narrower than your hips in the mirror.
- Thighs are fuller, and the width continues down from the hip rather than flaring out just below the waist (that's a spoon).
- Rules of thumb, not a diagnosis: most bodies sit between two shapes, and that is completely normal.
Three styles that suit a pear

Bootcut
Room through the thigh, then a slight kick that balances the hip. Measure your inseam in your boots. Bootcut jeans, $109.

Wide Leg
Falls clean from the fullest part of the thigh, so the leg skims instead of clinging. A high rise shows the waist. Wide leg jeans, $119.

Straight
An even line from thigh to hem, close without pulling. Give us your knee measurement too, so the leg doesn't narrow too quickly. Straight leg jeans, $109.
What to look for in jeans for a pear shape
| Feature | Why it works for a pear | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| Thigh room | The thigh is often the tightest point; it needs its own measurement | Thigh measurement on every style |
| Leg that stays straight or widens | Carries the hip line down and balances it at the hem | Bootcut, Wide Leg, Straight |
| Mid or High rise | Mid sits comfortably; high defines the waist | Choose in the step-by-step builder |
| Comfort Stretch | Gives a little through the thigh when you sit or climb stairs | Comfort Stretch, 2% elastane |
| Dark wash | Keeps the leg even in tone | Dark or Raw Indigo |
When another style may suit you better

Skinny jeans aren't off limits, but they narrow toward the ankle and can feel tight at the thigh. If you want one, choose Power Stretch and a Regular fit.
Try Skinny insteadHeavy rigid denim can feel stiff across a full thigh; it softens with wear, but stretch is easier from day one.
From your numbers to your door
Choose a style above and add your measurements in the step-by-step builder: about 5 minutes (how to measure). A pattern maker checks them within 1 working day, then your pair is made in our own workshop in 10–15 working days and covered by the Fit Guarantee: a free remake of your first pair in each fit.

Questions and answers
What jeans suit a pear shape?
Bootcut, wide leg and straight leg jeans, with the thigh cut to your measurement and a mid or high rise.
Is pear the same as triangle body shape?
Yes. Pear and triangle describe the same shape: hips and thighs wider than the bust and shoulders.
Can pear-shaped women wear skinny jeans?
Of course. Choose a stretch fabric and make sure the thigh is cut to your measurement; that's where an off-the-rack skinny usually pulls.
Why do my jeans fit my thighs but gap at the waist?
Your thighs and hips are fuller relative to your waist than the pattern expects. Separate measurements fix it; see curvy jeans with no waist gap.
What rise is best for a pear shape?
Mid rise for comfort, high rise to show the waist. Both work; it depends where you like the waistband.
