First choice: where should the waistband sit?
| Rise | Where it sits for an apple shape | Choose it if |
|---|---|---|
| Mid | Below your midsection, on the hips | You'd rather nothing sit across your middle |
| High | At or around the navel, over the midsection | You like a smooth line and a waistband that doesn't move when you sit |
| Ultra High | Above the navel | You have a longer torso and want full coverage and support |
Already own a pair that sits exactly right? Give us its front and back rise and we'll match it.

How to tell if you're an apple
- Waist measurement close to, or larger than, your bust and hips.
- Hips are the narrowest of the three measurements, or level with your bust.
- Legs and seat look slimmer than your upper body.
- Jeans that fit your waist are loose in the seat and thigh; jeans that fit your legs won't close.
- Rules of thumb, not a diagnosis: most bodies sit between two shapes, and that is completely normal.
Three styles that suit an apple shape

Straight
An even leg that shows off slimmer legs without clinging. Measure your hips at the fullest point so the seat fits too. Straight leg jeans, $109.

Bootcut
A small kick at the hem gives the lower half more presence and balances the middle. Measure your inseam in your boots. Bootcut jeans, $109.

Wide Leg
An easy, flowing leg with a high rise; comfortable all day. Choose Comfort or Power Stretch for the waistband. Wide leg jeans, $119.

What made to measure fixes for an apple shape
Size charts grow the seat and thigh along with the waist. For an apple shape that means jeans that fit at the waist come with too much room in the legs. We cut your waist, hips and thigh separately, so the legs fit as well as the waistband.
Choose Regular or Roomy as your fit preference if you want more ease when you sit; we add it at the waist and seat for the fabric you pick. Power Stretch (4% elastane) has the most give.
When another style may suit you better
A low rise usually sits under the midsection and tends to slip when you sit. Mid or high is more comfortable for most apple shapes.
If you carry weight evenly through the hips and thighs as well, the plus size jeans page goes into more detail.
From your numbers to your door
Choose a style above and add your measurements in the step-by-step builder: about 5 minutes (how to measure). A pattern maker checks them within 1 working day, then your pair is made in our own workshop in 10–15 working days and covered by the Fit Guarantee: a free remake of your first pair in each fit.

Questions and answers
What jeans are best for an apple-shaped body?
Straight, bootcut and wide leg jeans in a mid or high rise, with the waistband cut to your waist and the legs to your legs.
Should apple shapes wear high-waisted or mid-rise jeans?
Either. High rise sits over the midsection with a smooth line; mid rise sits below it. Choose by comfort.
Why do my jeans fit at the waist but bag in the legs?
Because sizes scale the legs with the waist. Cutting the thigh and hips from your own measurements removes the extra fabric.
Is an apple the same as an oval body shape?
Mostly, yes. Both describe more fullness through the midsection with slimmer legs; oval is sometimes used when the bust is fuller too.
