Plus Size Jeans, Drafted From Your Measurements

Plus size jeans usually come from a small sample pattern scaled up, which is why they fit the size chart and not you. Ours are cut from your waist, hips, thigh and inseam, in waists up to 70". Every size costs the same, from $109, and your first pair in each fit is covered by our Fit Guarantee.

Why most plus size jeans don't fit: the grading

Most ranges are designed on one sample size and graded upward by fixed steps. But bodies don't grow in fixed steps: one person carries weight at the stomach, another at the seat and thighs, another at the calves. One grading rule can't fit all of them, so you end up choosing which part of the jeans to compromise on.

We skip the grading. Your measurements are the pattern.

Your shape, not a size chart

          • Fits the hips, tight across the stomach

The front was graded for a flatter tummy

Waist and hips are cut from your numbers; choose High or Ultra High rise for more front coverage

          • Fits the waist, gaps at the back

Your seat is fuller than the grade assumed

Hips and waist are cut separately. More on curvy jeans with no waist gap

          • Ankles too wide on a skinny or straight

The whole leg was scaled up, ankle included

Your thigh is measured, and you can add knee and leg-opening measurements too

          • Waistband rolls down when you sit

The rise sits below your natural waist

Pick the rise by where you want the waistband, or give us the rise of a pair that stays up

          • Jeans wear through between the thighs

Friction on lighter or distressed fabric

Choose a heavier denim such as Classic Rigid (13 oz) and skip distressing

Measuring tips for a fuller figure

          1. Waist: measure where you want the waistband to sit, not where a size chart says your waist is.
          2. Hips: the fullest point, including the seat, with the tape level all round.
          3. Thigh: the fullest part, just below the crotch.
          4. Prefer not to measure? Height, weight and your usual size work too: we check the numbers within one working day and email you before cutting if anything looks unusual.
          5. Full method: our measuring guide.

Where to measure for plus size jeans

Tap a number. A soft tape and five minutes is all it takes. Full method in the measuring guide.

Back view of women's straight jeans with numbered measuring points
          1. Waist Where you want the waistband to sit, tape level all the way round.
          2. Hips / seat Around the fullest part of your seat, feet together.
          3. Back rise Optional: from the crotch seam up to the top of the back waistband of a pair that doesn't gap.
          4. Thigh Around the fullest part of one thigh, just below the crotch.
          5. Inseam From the crotch down the inside leg to where you want the hem, in the shoes you'll wear.

We check your numbers before we cut

Copy your best-fitting jeans laid flat (easiest) or measure yourself with a soft tape. Height and weight are optional, as a cross-check.

Within 1 working day a pattern maker compares every measurement with the others and with your height and weight, and emails you before cutting if anything looks unusual.

          Questions and answers

Do bigger sizes cost more at Jeanszilla?

No. A 70" waist costs exactly what a 24" waist does: $109, or $119 for Flare, Wide Leg and Barrel. US import duties are included too.

Can I order with just my height and weight?

Yes, with your usual size. We work out the measurements and email you before cutting if anything looks unusual.

Do you make petite plus size jeans?

Yes. A short inseam and a full waist are cut independently, so the combination costs nothing extra. See petite jeans.

What's the difference between plus size and curvy here?

Curvy means a big difference between waist and hips, at any size; plus size is about the size range. Many customers are both, and every pair handles both.

What rise stops the waistband rolling?

Usually High or Ultra High, placed where your waist actually is. If a pair you own stays up, give us its front and back rise.
