Men's Bootcut Jeans, Hemmed for Your Boots

Our Bootcut is fitted through the seat and thigh, then opens a little below the knee so the hem sits over a boot instead of bunching on top of it. Measure your inseam with your boots on, and we cut the length for those boots, not for bare feet. From $109 in every size.

Measure in your boots

  1. Put on the boots you'll wear most with these jeans; a western heel changes the length you need.
  2. Measure your inseam to where you want the hem: usually resting on the boot with a light stack at the front.
  3. Or copy your best bootcut pair lying flat, and tell us if your new boots have a higher heel.
  4. Write the boot style and heel height in the notes for your tailor.
  5. Tall western shaft? Mention it in the notes, so we can check the opening clears it before cutting.

Bootcut vs straight: which for your boots?

You mostly wearChooseWhy
Western or cowboy bootsBootcutThe opening clears the shaft and the hem rests on the boot
Roper or short western bootsBootcut or StraightEither clears a short shaft; bootcut keeps the western line
Lace-up work bootsStraightA straight leg sits over the laces without flaring
Chelsea bootsSlim or StraightA narrower hem looks neater over a slim boot
SneakersStraight or SlimA boot opening can drag on a low shoe

Fabric and wash for a western look

Classic Rigid (13 oz, 100% cotton) gives the heavier drape that hangs well over a boot and softens as you wear it. Comfort Stretch (11 oz, 2% elastane) is easier for long days in the saddle or the truck. Raw Indigo and Dark washes keep it sharp; Mid and Light look more lived-in.

Taller? The Bootcut is cut to inseams up to 40" at the same price; see jeans for tall men. Need more waist and seat as well? Try big and tall jeans.

We check your numbers before we cut

Copy your best-fitting jeans laid flat (easiest) or measure yourself with a soft tape. Height and weight are optional, as a cross-check.

Within 1 working day a pattern maker compares every measurement with the others and with your height and weight, and emails you before cutting if anything looks unusual.

Questions and answers

How long should bootcut jeans be?

Long enough to rest on the boot with a light stack at the front, without dragging under the heel. That's why we ask you to measure with your boots on.

Can I wear bootcut jeans with sneakers?

Yes. If you'll wear them with low shoes as often as boots, choose a slightly shorter inseam so the hem doesn't drag.

How wide is the bootcut leg opening?

The figure for a 32" waist is in the spec table, and it scales with your size. If your boots have a wide shaft, say so in the notes for your tailor.

Are bootcut jeans back in style for men?

Western and retro looks have brought them back into view, but that's taste, not a forecast. If you wear boots, bootcut is simply the practical cut.

Which hems work on bootcut jeans?

All of them: regular, raw and frayed, cuffed, or chain-stitch (+$10). Most bootcut wearers choose a regular hem, measured in their boots using our measuring guides.

Do you make bootcut jeans in long lengths?

Yes, up to a 40" inseam at the same price. Long legs and tall heels add up quickly, so measuring in your boots matters even more.
