The most common men's shape
If you're a rectangle, you're in large company. A 3D body-scan survey of more than 12,000 men across India found the rectangle the most frequent men's shape (Tiwari and Anand), and a smaller scan study of 270 men in Gauteng, South Africa, put 45.5% in the rectangle group (Mnyaiza, Unisa, 2023).
Common doesn't mean shop jeans fit. Size charts assume your hips are a few inches bigger than your waist. On a rectangle they often aren't, so the seat bags and the back pockets sit low.

How to tell you're a rectangle (rules of thumb)
- Your chest is within about 3–4 inches of your waist.
- Your hips are within about 2 inches of your waist.
- Your shoulders are only a little wider than your hips.
- Shirts fit your shoulders and chest at the same size, with no pull at the stomach.
- Shop jeans fit your waist but leave spare fabric under the seat.
Three fits for a rectangle build

Slim
Slim fit follows the leg with a gentle taper and suits an even frame. Give your hip measurement at the fullest point; it's how we take out the baggy seat.

Straight
Straight leg is the everyday answer: same width from hip to hem, easy with any shoe. Choose Regular fit preference if you're unsure.

Bootcut
Bootcut is slim to the knee and opens over boots, adding a bit of shape at the hem. Tell us in the notes which boots you'll wear.
What to look for in jeans
| Feature | Why it works for a rectangle | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| Seat | Cut to your actual hips, so the back pockets sit where they should | Every fit |
| Rise | Mid rise sits at the natural waist and suits a straight torso | Slim, Straight |
| Thigh | Close but not tight, for a defined leg | Slim |
| Leg shape | A taper or a slight flare gives the outline some shape | Bootcut |
| Details | Contrast thread, a cuffed hem or a raw selvedge add interest to a simple outline | Any fit |

What made-to-measure fixes
The fix for a rectangle is mostly in the seat: we cut the hips from your hip number, not from the chart's guess, so there's no fold of fabric below the back pockets. Inseam is your own too, up to 40", and the price is the same whatever the numbers.
When not to choose

Very relaxed cuts add width the frame doesn't need and can look boxy. If you want comfort, Straight in Comfort Stretch does it without the bulk.
Try Straight instead
From your numbers to your door
Choose a style above and add your measurements in the step-by-step builder: about 5 minutes (how to measure). A pattern maker checks them within 1 working day, then your pair is made in our own workshop in 10–15 working days and covered by the Fit Guarantee: a free remake of your first pair in each fit.

Questions and answers
What jeans suit a rectangle body shape for men?
Slim, straight and bootcut legs, with a mid rise and a seat cut to your real hip measurement.
Is rectangle the most common body shape for men?
In the scan studies we found, yes: a survey of more than 12,000 men in India and a study of 270 men in South Africa both found rectangle the most frequent men's shape.
Why do my jeans sag under the seat?
Shop jeans assume hips a few inches bigger than your waist. On a rectangle build the extra room has nowhere to go. Giving us your hip measurement fixes it.
Can I get skinny jeans as a rectangle?
Yes, if you like them. Skinny works best in a stretch denim; Slim is the safer first pair.
