Jeans for Tall Men, Cut Long in the Right Places

Tall men's jeans that are cut long, not just hemmed long. We take your inseam (up to 40"), waist, seat and thigh separately, plus your rise if you have it, so a 32" waist with a 38" leg is an ordinary order here. Four fits, one price at every length, from $109.

Why "long" sizes still fit wrong

Most long sizes are made by adding fabric at the ankle. The rest of the pattern stays put: the knee sits high on your leg, the taper starts too early, and the rise can feel short the moment you sit down. You get the right length and the wrong shape.

It gets harder if you're tall and broad, or tall with strong thighs, because long sizes tend to come in a narrow band of waists. Here the waist runs from 24" to 70" with any of those lengths.

          What we cut long

            Inseam

Cut to your number, up to 40", for no extra charge, whatever the length.

            Rise

Choose low, mid or high, and add your front and back rise if you know them. Both are optional measurements, and on a long body they're worth taking.

            Knee

Add the knee measurement of a pair that fits, and tell us in the notes for your tailor if store jeans always put the knee too high.

          • Tall Men's Jeans: Slim jeans worn on a model

            Waist and thigh

Measured separately, so tall and slim, tall and athletic, or tall and broad all work.

Find your inseam: forget the height chart

Height charts disagree by several inches for men over 6'2", because legs and torsos split height differently. Two men at 6'4" can need quite different inseams.

Measure the inseam of the longest pair that fits you properly, lying flat from the crotch seam to the hem, or measure your body with your usual shoes on. Our measuring guides show both, and we check your numbers against your height before we cut.

Shoes, cuffs and break on long legs

Long legs show a lot of sock if the hem is even slightly short, so measure in the shoes you'll wear most and lean towards a slight break. Like a turn-up? Choose the cuffed hem, or add an inch to your inseam and roll them yourself; a chain-stitch hem (+$10) looks good turned up.

          Measuring long legs

Tap a number. A soft tape and five minutes is all it takes. Full method in the measuring guide.

We check your numbers before we cut

Copy your best-fitting jeans laid flat (easiest) or measure yourself with a soft tape. Height and weight are optional, as a cross-check.

Within 1 working day a pattern maker compares every measurement with the others and with your height and weight, and emails you before cutting if anything looks unusual.

          Questions and answers

What inseam do I need if I'm 6'4"?

It depends on your legs, not your height: charts for 6'4" range from about 34" to 38". Measure a pair that fits, or your body, and we'll compare it with your height before cutting.

What's the longest inseam you make?

Up to 40" on every men's fit, at the same price as any other length.

          Do tall sizes cost more?

No. A 40" inseam costs the same as a 30": from $109, or $119 for Athletic Taper.

Will the knee be in the right place?

Give us the knee measurement of a pair that fits and add a note if your knee usually lands too high. We review it with your other numbers and email you before cutting if anything looks off.

I'm tall and wide. Which page is for me?

If you need a bigger waist or more room in the seat as well as length, big and tall jeans covers rise and belly. Tall and lean? You're in the right place.
