Husky is a size name here, nothing more: a cut with extra room. The measurements do the rest.

Husky fit problems, and what we change

  • Hems rolled up twice

Husky grading adds width without shortening the leg.

Inseam cut to their measurement, crotch to ankle bone.

  • Waistband digs in when they sit

The waist was picked to get the hips in, then pulled tight with elastic.

Cut to where their jeans actually sit; or choose a full elastic pull-on waist.

  • Gap at the back waist

Sizing up for the seat leaves spare waist.

Cut to their real waist, with the adjustable band taking in the rest.

  • Tight across the thigh

Fixed grading can't know your child.

Tell us where it pinches in the notes for your tailor.

  • Knees wear through first

    Kneeling, crawling, sliding.

    Reinforced knees (+$10).

Measuring for husky jeans

  1. Waist: around where their jeans usually sit, which is often a little lower than the natural waist.
  2. Hips: around the fullest part of the seat, with the tape level all the way round.
  3. Inseam: crotch to ankle bone, standing tall. This is the number store husky sizes get wrong.
  4. Add their age and height so we can check the numbers fit together.
  5. Or copy their favourite jeans laid flat: how to measure for husky jeans.

For boys and girls, at one price

Husky has long been sold as a boys' label, and girls get a thin 'plus' rail if anything. Here it's a cut open to any child, in the same washes and fabrics as every other style, and it costs $79 whatever the measurements. Add the grow-room hem (+$8) and a growth spurt means letting a hem down, not starting again. Browse custom boys' jeans or custom girls' jeans for the other fits.

We check your numbers before we cut

Measure the waist where their jeans sit, the hips, and the inseam from crotch to ankle bone. Or measure their best-fitting pair laid flat.

Within 1 working day a pattern maker compares every measurement with the others, and emails you before cutting if anything looks unusual.

Questions and answers

What does husky mean in kids' jeans?

A cut with extra room through the waist, seat and thigh. In store sizing the leg length usually stays the same as the regular size; ours is cut to your child's own inseam.

Why are husky jeans always too long?

Because store husky sizes add width without shortening the leg, so a shorter child with a fuller seat gets extra length they don't need. We measure the inseam separately.

Can girls wear husky jeans?

Yes. Husky is a cut, not a boys' size, and any child can order it in any wash.

Do husky sizes cost more?

No. Every kids' style and size is $79; only the extras you add, like reinforced knees or a grow-room hem, change the price.

Is husky the same as plus size for kids?

They're two shop names for the same idea: more room in the seat and thigh. Here it's one cut, Husky, made to the measurements you send.
