Fleece-lined and flannel-lined jeans that fit

Lined jeans are denim with a soft fleece or flannel lining inside the legs, made for cold days. The lining takes up room, so a size that fits unlined can feel tight. Ours are cut from your own measurements, $129 in every size, waist 24 to 70 inches.

Fleece or flannel: what's the difference?

Both are soft linings sewn inside the leg, so the denim stays on the outside and the lining sits against your skin. As a general rule, fleece is plusher and tends to feel warmer. Flannel is lighter and more breathable, and it makes for a slimmer-looking leg.

Neither is better; it depends on where you spend the day. Fleece suits long stretches outdoors or a chilly commute. Flannel suits cool days that turn mild by lunchtime, or a workplace with decent heating. You choose the lining on the product page, at no extra cost.

Why lined jeans fit differently

The lining takes up room inside the leg and the waistband. Most lined jeans are made in stock sizes, so if your usual size fits unlined, it can feel snug once a lining is added. Sizing up fixes the waist and then leaves the seat and thigh baggy.

Ours are cut from your measurements instead. Give us your measurements as usual; a pattern maker checks them before cutting. Every size is $129 and waists run 24 to 70 inches, so tall, plus-size, curvy and big-thigh shoppers get lined jeans that fit.

When lined jeans aren't worth it

  • You live somewhere mild. A lining is an extra layer you'd only wear a few weeks a year.

  • You spend most of the day in a warm office or a car with the heater on. Lined jeans can feel too warm indoors.

  • You want warmth but run hot. An unlined pair in heavier denim, such as Classic Rigid 13 oz, pairs well with base layers. Try the Straight or the women's Straight in that fabric.

We check your numbers before we cut

Copy your best-fitting jeans laid flat (easiest) or measure yourself with a soft tape. Height and weight are optional, as a cross-check.

Within 1 working day a pattern maker compares every measurement with the others and with your height and weight, and emails you before cutting if anything looks unusual.

Questions and answers

What's the difference between fleece-lined and flannel-lined jeans?

Fleece is plusher and generally warmer; flannel is lighter, more breathable and gives a slimmer leg. Both go inside regular denim, and you pick one when you order.

Are lined jeans the same as thermal jeans or winter jeans?

People use those names for the same idea: denim with a soft lining for cold weather. Ours are made to measure with a fleece or flannel lining.

Why do lined jeans feel tighter than regular jeans?

The lining adds layers inside the leg and waistband, so a size that fits unlined can feel snug. Cutting from your own measurements avoids guessing a size.

Do you offer lined jeans in plus sizes or for tall people?

Yes. Waists run 24 to 70 inches at the same $129 price, and men's inseams go up to 40 inches.

Can I get lined jeans in a rigid denim?

Yes. Classic Rigid 13 oz (100% cotton) is one of four fabrics on lined styles, alongside Comfort Stretch, Power Stretch and Soft Cotton Stretch.
