The short answer

  • Within 1 working day a pattern maker checks your numbers and emails you before cutting if anything looks unusual.
  • 10–15 working days to make the pair, or 5–7 with rush (+$35).
  • 3–7 working days express tracked delivery to the US, UK, EU, Canada and Australia; free over $299. US import duties are included in the price at checkout.
  • Your first pair in each fit is covered by the Fit Guarantee; once a fit is right, reorders use the same pattern.

Ordering jeans that don't exist yet asks for a bit of trust. The best way to earn it is to show you exactly what happens next. Here is the journey of a Jeanszilla pair, step by step, with honest timings. All of them are in working days, Monday to Friday.

Add stages 1 to 3 and a standard order typically reaches you in roughly 14 to 23 working days, or about 9 to 15 with rush.

Stage 1: someone looks at your numbers

Before anything is cut, a pattern maker compares your measurements with each other: waist against hips, inseam against height, and so on. If something looks unusual, such as a thigh that seems too small for the hips, you get an email asking you to check, and nothing is cut until it's resolved. That's also when your notes for your tailor are read, so it's worth writing them carefully. Questions we ask most often are about numbers that don't agree; re-measuring with our measuring guides usually settles it in minutes.

Stage 2: making your pair

Your jeans are made to order in our own workshop: the pattern is drafted from your numbers and chosen style, the denim is cut, and the pair is sewn and finished with the wash, hem, thread and details you picked. Standard production is 10–15 working days. If you need them sooner, rush production takes 5–7 working days for $35.

Stage 3: delivery and duties

Every order ships by express tracked delivery, 3–7 working days to the US, UK, EU, Canada and Australia, and express shipping is free on orders over $299. For US customers, import duties are included in the price at checkout, so you don't have to work out a duty bill yourself. There's more detail on how duties work for clothing in US import duties on clothing orders, and on our shipping information page.

Stage 4: the first try-on

Try them on as soon as they arrive, before washing, cutting tags or wearing them out. Use the five-minute check in how jeans should fit: stand, turn, sit, squat, and look at the hem in your usual shoes. New denim, especially rigid, feels firmer on day one than it will after a few wears; stretch denim relaxes a little too (why).

Stage 5: if the fit isn't right

Your first pair in each fit is covered by the Fit Guarantee:

  • Tell us within 30 days of delivery, with the jeans unworn and unwashed.
  • Choose a free remake with corrected measurements, or up to $25 refunded for a local alteration.
  • The pattern maker adjusts your saved measurements and confirms them with you before re-cutting.
  • Manufacturing faults are always repaired or replaced.

Be specific when you tell us: "tight across the thighs when I sit" or "half an inch too long in sneakers" turns into a precise pattern change. Once a fit is right, reorders use the same pattern, so the next pair in that fit skips the guesswork.

Three things that slow an order down

  1. Numbers that disagree, which trigger a question email. Double-check before you submit.
  2. A slow reply to that email. Nothing is cut until we hear back.
  3. Public holidays and weekends, which aren't working days.
